Mac's Book Club for middle grade girls will discuss two books in May, The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth Speare and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The Witch of Blackbird Pond has captivated generations of readers. Kit Tyler must leave behind shimmering Caribbean islands to join the stern Puritan community of her relatives. She soon feels caged, until she meets the old woman known as the Witch of Blackbird Pond. But when their friendship is discovered, Kit herself is accused of witchcraft. And the book club couldn't resist talking about the book everyone is talking about, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The first in a trilogy featuring teenaged Katniss Everdeen, the books are ultimately about friendship, love, courage and revolt.
